A refined journey through vineyards, rolling hills and outstanding flavours
The historic Milan–Alba train is an experience designed for those who wish to discover the Langhe with a touch of exclusivity, framed within the concept of Itinerari d’Autore: journeys that invite travelers to observe, interpret, and experience the territory through a personal and conscious perspective. The journey takes place aboard the Gran Confort carriages, icons of elegance and refinement originally created for major international routes, welcoming passengers into a quiet, sophisticated atmosphere.
Leaving Milan, the landscape gradually transforms: the urban pace gives way to a sequence of vine-covered hills and historic villages. Thanks to the spacious interiors, generous seating, and a timeless level of comfort, the journey becomes a moment of pure contemplation, an integral part of the experience: a suspended time that prepares travelers for an encounter with one of the most iconic territories in Piedmont.
Upon arriving in Alba, each traveler is free to shape their own itinerary: seasonal markets, historic wine bars, artisan workshops, open tastings, and events dedicated to local products. A territory that, at this time of year, expresses its authentic essence at its fullest, and which—true to the spirit of Itinerari d’Autore—invites exploration without predefined paths, following the personal rhythm of the journey.

The Gran Confort carriages represent one of the finest examples of Italian railway elegance of the late 20th century. Designed for high-end long-distance services, they stand out for the quality of their interiors, the comfort of the seating, their quietness, and the large windows that enhance the panoramic dimension of the journey.
Used for decades on top-category trains, they were considered true “representative lounges” on rails. Today, thanks to Fondazione FS, they run again as historic rolling stock, preserving their original charm.
Throughout the journey, both outbound and return, the onboard experience is an integral part of the itinerary. The train becomes a space for storytelling and discovery through:
